So Long, Farewell

Goodness, how quickly the past 8 months have flown by! As we wind down to the end of traineeship, here are some resources to support you with preparing your clients for graduation or transition and getting yourself ready to launch into your associateship.

Pro Tips

  • Audit as you go! You will need to have all of your audits approved by a supervisor BEFORE you are cleared to end your traineeship. Enter dates for completed items but do not highlight them green (this will be done when the audit is approved).

  • Start talking with your clients about graduation early and discuss it often! Do NOT assume youth (or parents, for that matter) will remember that you discussed this back in October or January.

  • Use your PCOMS data as a guide and discussion point with clients.

  • Do not offer clients ongoing services for the summer or fall until your supervisor has confirmed that the client qualifies and there is clinician availability.

  • Make sure parents are aware of your timeline and plans for your client’s transition.

  • Make your graduations meaningful! Consult with supervisors and colleagues for creative ideas.
